Today, the 2026 Winter Olympics began with a multi-city opening ceremony with the theme "Armonia" (Harmony). Two Italian cities, Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, are co-hosting the games this year. This is a first in Olympic history.

The main opening ceremony took place at Milan's San Siro Stadium, with side ceremonies taking place in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Livigno, and Predazzo. For another first in Olympic history, two Olympic flames were ignited simultaneously in both of the hosting cities.

The opening ceremony has performers such as Mariah Carey performing "Volare" and "Nothing is Impossible," Andrea Bocelli singing "Nessun dorma," and many other performers, including Laura Pausini, Lang Lang, and Cecilia Bartoli.

The Parade of Nations also took place today at the event. Athletes from over 92 countries participated. Speed skater Erin Jackson and bobsledder Frankie del Duca served as flag bearers for the United States.

Events will begin tomorrow and continue until February 22nd. Live coverage is available on NBC and Peacock.
